Hair Wash Day Routine!!

A solid hair washes day routine, is the most important aspect of growing and keeping natural hair beautiful. I am now sporting a very short haircut.

After years of going between straightening, jerry curls, and, occasionally, the “natural” look. I decided a few years ago to just forget about doing anything, and wear a hat. And I became the hat lady. Patients, and colleagues, all referred to me as, oh you mean the lady with the hat.

Under my hat was a lot of natural coarse hair with so much breakage it was unreal. Finally, I was forced to do something about it. Chemotherapy has a way of forcing our hands. With my second round of treatment, I decided to visit my son’s barber. I got a boy cut. Which I love, besides the fact it looks good, The ease of care with my new routine is amazing. It makes my hair wash day routine for me, easy.

The Important Decision I Made!

 A GRAPH OF TYPE 4 C HAIR
TYPE 4C TYPE HAIR.

I needed to do something else besides the hat. And was fed up with hair that had no moisture, heat damage, breakage, no growth, and tangles for days. I decided to stop worrying about finding a magic potion, that would cure all her hair woes and, concentrated on building a routine that was solid. There are various ways to approach hair care that protect against hair being damaged. Plus moisturize fragile and dry hair. Type 4 hair can appear as a mass of tight coils full of energy. And be of a spongy texture that can feel either soft and fine or rough and coarse, depending on hair thickness. I got myself a new brand care product made just for type 4 hair.

The challengers.

Hair types are; numbers describe the shape and, the letter describes the width of the curls, with A  being the widest.

{1} straight.

{2} A, B, and C- wavy with increasing degrees of S shapes.

{3}A, Loose, B, tight + springy, and C, C, or Z-shaped curls.

{4}A, loose, B, zig-zagging, and C, tight coils. The challenges of having 4 A, B, C

The 3 big problems are; breakage, retaining moisture, and detangling. This wash-day kit solution was created with these struggles in mind.

The Routine For My Hair Wash Day.

{1 } On wash days. I started with a pre oil treatment Shampoo, applied to my hair and scalp rinse ,follow up with sulfate-free moisturizing and detangling shampoo to get rid of old product and natural buildup. This will also help with greasy roots and itchy scalp without drying out your hair. {2} Next came my moisturizing and detangling conditioner, I combed it through from roots to tips, and leave it in for 15minutes. Then rinse thoroughly. {3}Pat dry and apply my leave in conditioner one section at at a time. My hair felt unbelievable soft, no tangle and no frizz. I got myself a new brand made just for type 4 hair care routine just for me!!!!!

Celebrate Your 4C Curls And Coils

Women with type 4 hair experience the most difficulties deciding what’s next. A bad hair day is really bad, and for that reason, we straighten and iron, or get jerry curls. But guess what I learned it is the most fragile, hence the breakage. With this in mind, I did my research to find out what is right for me A healthy hair journey I can take with me. And no longer. will wash day be a dreaded chore.

We hear so often that 4C hair is undesirable, unattractive, and unmanageable. Ignore these ideas, they are far from the truth. I threw out the shampoo that contain sulfates. A mild hydrating shampoo is best for our hair.     I am learning that my hair is manageable, soft, and beautiful. My boy cut is growing back quickly. I will have to decide soon, whether to keep it short or let it grow. We will see when the time comes. Celebrate your hair with pride and joy!

In Conclusion

Here are a tips from the American Academy of Dermatology on every day care

{1} Wash your hair once a week or every other week:  This will help prevent build-up of hair care products, which can be drying to the hair. {2} Use conditioner every time you wash your hair. Be sure to coat the ends of the hair with conditioner, as the ends are the oldest and most fragile part of your hair. {3} Use hot oil treatment twice a month, this adds additional moisture and elasticity to your hair. {4} Use a heat protecting product before styling, add to wet hair will help minimize heat damage. {5} Use caution with relaxers. {6} Use a ceramic combs or Iron to press hair. {7} Make sure braids, cornrows or weaves are not to tight, as pain equal damage.
