Pre-Heat Your Air Fryer
I love my Air fryer and have used it extensively in the last 2 years. And why? Because everything becomes easier with air frying, from cooking chicken nuggets and other meats to making Chocolate oatmeal cookies. If you already have an air fryer or thinking of getting one. These tips are to help you make yummy tasting food safely while keeping your fryer in good condition. Even after using one for a couple of years, I still find new things I can do every day. It is a convenient and stress-free!!!!
Avoid Using Nonstick Cooking Sprays
Nonstick cooking sprays are not your friend when it comes to air frying. These cooking sprays can actually do harm to your cooker. They interfere with the air flow by clogging the vent, therefore, it will eventually cause problems with cooking times and your cooker. I use olive oil, but you may use any natural oil to your liking. I simply put the oil in a spray bottle, which is better for my health, the food and my cooker.
When and How to line your air fryer basket
This was a hard lesson I learn during my practice runs. That to make holes in parchment paper before using it in an air fryer can allow grease to drain, resulting in crispier food. Parchment paper specifically designed for air fryers already has holes. I discover without holes, in the liner I was using, airflow was restricted, and what I got was uneven cooking and soggy food. Air fryers rely on circulating hot air around the food. I personally do not use any liner. For me, my food comes out better. Plus, my cooker is non-stick. Cleaning with soap and water is easy and, I soak the basket in warm soapy water for 10-15minutes, if I cooked something sticky.
You need to weight down the parchment or foil with the food to make sure it stays in place. And always add your lining paper at the same time you are putting in the food. On its own, the paper will fly around during the pre-heating, touch the heating element, and may cause a fire. There are Parchment paper for air fryers that already has holes. {For don’t} Never use wax paper in your fryer, because it’s not fireproof.
Foil in the air fryer
You can also use foil. It is safe to use in your air fryer when you follow three basic rules: Of air fryers do’s and don’ts {1} Do not let foil touch any part of the heating element.{2} Always make sure the foil is weight down so it does not blow around in the basket. {3} Do not put acidic ingredients directly on the foil. E.g., Acidic ingredients like citrus fruits, tomatoes, also bell peppers or any food item marinated in citrus juice or vinegar, react poorly to foil.
The acid breaks down the aluminum, causing it to seep into your food. The amount of aluminum you would absorb is very little, but it is best to avoid it when cooking acidic food. And it also defeats the purpose of air-frying. Because it prevents the air from circulating properly, But I have to say, It does make cleanup a breeze. Plus, it is more convenient when cooking food with sauces. You can also invest In a couple of reusable silicone liners.
Where to place your You Air Fryer
Where in your kitchen did you place your air fryer. Placement is important. I had to try, several locations before I found the perfect place. Because it is a small footprint, I stuck it in a corner. While this will work, in theory, it will have an effect on how the air fryer cooks the food. The air fryer needs sufficient air circulation for the food to cook evenly. This is not possible if you cram the cooker into a small space.
How to prevent smoking air-fryer
One of the things you do not want is white smoke while using your cooker. To remedy this, I usually put 2-3 tablespoon of water in the bottom of the basket. And this will reduce the bellowing white smoke, without interfering with the cooking process or give you soggy food. As well as, do not leave your cooker alone for long period while in use. For the purpose of air fryers do’s and don’ts of safety, check it frequently to make sure there is not a problem. White smoke means oil or grease is too hot, and a fire hazard. If this happens, simply add some water to the fryer drawer and, this will cool everything down. Black smoke may mean your food is burning. Remember to season before you add the food to your cooker. Also spray the food {avoid nonstick cooking sprays} with your oil of choice first, then add the seasoning so it has something to stick too. Or if using a batter, apply to food and then place in fryer. Try not to do any seasoning while the food is cooking. Yes I did. And discovered salt can fly. As the cooker fan blew it right back at me.
Use breading Instead of batter
If you attempt to air fry ingredients coated in a wet batter, the batter will drip through the basket and end up burning in the drawer below. Meanwhile, you’ll be left with plain, bare pork chops. Instead, you can use this 3 step breading method I found on the web. {1} coat your food with seasoned flour, {2} then dip it in beaten egg, {3}then coat in breadcrumbs. Squirt each piece lightly with your oil of choice and, cook. My result, Golden brown, crispy pork chops. Delicious!!! Plus, only fill your basket halfway.
Individual portions
I thought silicone cupcake cups were just for baking delicious cupcakes, but to my great joy, I discovered they’re actually super versatile, especially in our air fryer. Sure, you can make cupcakes, but you can also whip up mini omelets or any small dishes for a quick, on-the-go snack. With these 6 ingredients. You you have egg bites that are low carbs, keto friendly, gluten-free high in protein, vegetarian. I make them with bacon bits, ham or leftover meat I crumble. Who knew!!!! Eggs, {egg beater also works} Milk, green onions, salt + pepper, and cheese. You want a hard-boiled egg: With an air fryer, all your problems are solved—. Just cook them on low heat for 15 minutes. No water needed. And they have come out perfect every time for me.!
My final tips to you
And finally. Having an air fryer for me meant I could keep up with the healthier lifestyle road I am on without the hassle, and time-wasting I when through before my air fryer. Keep in mind, do not fill the basket of silicone cups with food more than half way. The result will be a mess of half burn food, that is undercooked, and not something you will want to eat or serve. Instead, cook in batches. Chill—”Don’t forget about your cooked food sitting in the air fryer. Leftover foods should be refrigerated within 2 hours, otherwise they can enter the Danger Zone. The Danger Zone is the range of temperatures between 40 degrees F and 140 degrees F where foodborne illness bacteria multiply and can reach dangerous levels”. Because the fryer is faster than the original stove top. You will still spend less time preparing your tasty dishes. I hope this helps in reducing some of your worry about using an air fryer.
